FUTURE READY QUARTERLY GATHERING

4 - 5 February 2025 / London

Future Ready Gathering: London

Thank you to everyone who joined us for another brilliant quarterly gathering.

Hosted by Sustainable Ventures at County Hall, the atmosphere was buzzing and full of action across both days.

Tours of Sustainable Ventures’ home on the fifth floor demonstrated not only a successful retrofit project, but inspiring spaces creating an incubator for net zero and climate tech. Rebecca and Sustainable Ventures kicked off our Day 1 activities, followed by the launch of Regen’s Enable Embed Enact paper on maximising the value of local net zero planning.

Day 2 saw our fantastic participant project showcases and inspiration bites presentations – you can catch up on the recordings here. Emily and Stephanie at Involve launched the self-assessment framework for citizen engagement on net zero, with support from Matthew, Sarah and Robyn, who shared real-time case studies of their Citizen Engagement and Visioning pilot projects. If you’d like to hear more about this session, get in touch with Emily at Involve.

Urban Foresight wrapped up the jam-packed agenda with a session to introduce the Future Ready Big Ideas Handbook – see our Insights and Action Learning page for more information on next steps! Your contributions were invaluable, and hugely appreciated.

Exploring systems change through a multi-layer perspective, School of Systems Change

PATHFINDER TRAINING

6 February 2025 / London

Stories of System Change: Pathfinder Training

Pathfinder Place projects joined Anna Birney and Raphael Lachiver from the School of Systems Change in London for a compelling day of systems change exploration and coaching. Anna and Raph shared their deep understanding of systems complexities and layering to lead participants to explore how it is possible to shift deeper patterns in society that might be holding us back from making the niche (or larger) system breakthroughs that we‘re searching for.

Forum for the Future’s Story of Rock ‘n’ Roll illustrates this theory to show that systems do change and that we all can be part of the movement.

The key learnings from the session demonstrated:

  • How to take systems complexity theory and do something with it,
  • How understanding the nature of the problem (simple, chaotic, complicated, chaos) can help to frame a response,
  • How identifying assumptions or world views can build individual capacity to bring about change, and;
  • What we can do as change agents within the Net Zero Living programme to contribute to systems change.

COMMUNITY MONTHLY ONLINE MEETUP

16 January 2025 / Online

Transforming your Net Zero Living journey & TAP Showcase

Key takeaways from January’s monthly online meetup.

During January’s Online Meetup, discussions were split into two halves where participants:

  • Explored their net Net Zero Journey to date, including failures, successes and lessons they can take forward, and;
  • Looked ahead to the next stages of project delivery and collaborated on how current challenges can be navigated.

We were also joined by the Technical Assistance Partners who gave the group practical examples of how their expertise has supported places along their Net Zero Journey so far and how participants can continue to make the most of their services.
