End of year policy update – Regen Net Zero Living Team
It’s been a busy end of year for policy updates and announcements by the government. Firstly, the updated National Planning Policy Framework was launched on the back of a consultation held in September this year.
Then, within 24 hours of changes to planning, the government announced its flagship Clean Power 2030 Action Plan. This plan will be the blueprint for the energy system and sector going forwards. With at least 15 consultations mentioned in the paper, the plan sets out how the government intends to meet its targets for clean power by 2030 – with several implications for local authorities and communities contained in the text.
Finally, the shake up to local government in England was announced in the Devolution White Paper. These, changes, along with several others will set the tone for what we explore with the Net Zero Living programme in the new year. We hope you all have a restful Christmas break – because we intend to hit the ground running in January!
