Young leaders in the Cayman Islands, a British Overseas Territory, have been contemplating their uncertain future and have come up with a plan that includes migrating from the islands to the UK.
Their fears has been made even more acute as record-breaking hurricane Beryl tore through the Caribbean, with scientists now calling for new hurricane designations of Category 6 and even Category 7 as accelerating ocean temperatures fuel more powerful storms, making the region uninhabitable.
The Young Leaders’ plan was created using OnePlanet’s ‘systems-mapping-joined-up-action’ platform being used by government, community groups and business to connect the dots and collaborate.
Founder, Pooran Desai, has a long history of working in sustainability, including creating the One Planet Living framework on which the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are based.
